We can look at the needs of extreme poverty in the world and feel completely overwhelmed in the face of so great a need. Feeling that we don't have the means to meet those needs there is a real danger that we end up doing nothing at all.
You may not be able to change the world but you can change someone's world. Together we can make a difference!
We are currently in the process of investigating the feasibility of projects that will be of sustainable benefit to the children at Hoay Maw and their community.
Significant projects that we would like to fund:
- Development of the organic pig project
- Repair/replacement of the damaged water tank
- Establishment of a staff infrastructure will require £2280 for an inital 6 month period.
In the mean-time there are immediate basic needs to which you can also contribute, e.g.:
- Basic medicines
- Personal hygene items (shampoo, toothpaste, washing soap, etc)
- Sports equipment (basketballs, nets, footballs, etc)
- Groceries (fruit, veg, meat, etc)
- Repairs (mosquito screens, etc)
- Painting of the buildings and plumbing and electrical repairs
- A large fridge
- Play scheme events
Contributions have already been made in the following areas:
- School uniforms (all of the children are now at school)
- Building of new pig pen with natural floor for organic pig project
- Piglets to raise for meat
- Hair clippers, nit combs and wash tubs, etc
- Sports equipment (basketballs, nets, footballs, etc)
- Stationery (paper, pencils, crayons, etc)
- Christmas "packages" and activities for 184 children
- Dining benches have been repaired
- A warm hoody for each of the children
- Funding for house-parents
