Eurotherm

Vultures

My old desk at Eurotherm has barely got cold, and now this...

Yes! 17 years of precious collections of priceless books, manuals, software boxes. But fortunately I had rescued all the tea (and coffee) before I left. Look! There are all those CD cases. I needed one today too!

And who is this for? For him:

Please look after my fan! Yes the one with my name of it, several times, from multiple moves.

I understand the Eurotherm R&D are/have undergone yet another internal move. As the boss said to me last week, he loves playing chess. He is obviously the King. But who is the Queen?! There are several possibilities...His wife, or Liz?

Thanks Mike for grassing on them!

Hairy Heartthrob

To see what some of the people at work are like, a certain IT person decided to risk life and limb by submitting our IT network expert Mark Lednor to the IT "bad beard" competition.

For the record - Mark Lednor is an extremely nice and knowledgeable person who I would never consider doing anything bad to - I feel this article is extremely unfair and I would never consider doing such a think to Mark Lednor myself...

EMail is back

Our exchange email server is now back, with most of the email restored...at least messages up until last Wednesday evening...

Opps...

No email

Eurotherm's email server failed on Monday 13th January.

Attempts to restore from backup are failing too.

Email sent to anyone at Eurotherm between Friday and Monday is might to be lost. Email sent since Monday morning is being stored on email gateway computers.

If the restores from backup continue to fail, email sent before Monday will also be losted.

Oh yes - the failed server was running MS Exchange server (was not a hardware failure...). And the gateway computers which are currently storing 70000+ and growing email messages are "little" linux boxes...

Opps!

iTools V5.60 Released - at last!!

Eurotherm iTools V5.60 has finally been released - after two weeks of manic testing to get everything ready!!

In terms of what I was involved with, the iTools OPC Server (EuroMBus) has had some improvements in terms of cloning performance to the new 3000 series of instruments.

The free download is available from the usual sites, including

http://www.eurotherm.com/itools/

(might take a few hours for the websites to be updated - MAKE SURE YOU GET V5.60...)
