I guess Thailand has yet again featured in the news...
An internal Eurotherm/Invensys memo was circulated today (Monday 12th April 2010) informing people of a travel ban to Thailand, pointing out disturbances in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
Well today we did experience some of this violence first hand when war broke out right outside our house...between Americans! Bombs where being thrown around in alarmingly haphazard way with no regard for human life, or concern for civilian casualties, or even friendly fire.
Water bombs...
Well, yes it is Songkran - Thai New Year. Also know as water festival.

Unlike the Americans who have tried to join in this war early, the British Navy are waiting to execute a surprise ambush in the next few days to show who really rules the 7 seas.
Meanwhile, regarding the Red protests - as far as we can tell, the protests have been restricted to certain parts of Bangkok, and some minor prancing around in other cities and towns around the country, and have been aimed at government buildings.
With Songkran, where people traditionally return back to their family village/town, the main towns/cities become completely empty - which is great for shopping at Tescos...
Apart from the odd car/truck/motorbike brandishing a red flag around town, we have not see any trouble, or felt unsafe in anyway. Just felt hot! 40'C every day!
The reason for the lack of blog updates over the last 2-3 months is that we have been really busy.
Jenny has been preparing to present 2-3 hours to a conference for selected church leaders on children's ministry/work within church.
Last week we took a team of 15 children on a three day trip to a remote children's home where they helped run games, activities, presentations to children in the home and to children at a nearby rubbish dump.
And I have been really busy working on the port of PocketWeather to the Apple iPhone/iPod, which we will be release within the next feed months.
Oh yes - I also went to HoayMaw this weekend with a couple of friends to install a new drinking water filter, service one of the two existing water filters, install a sediment filter, clean out the storage tank, and start to fix some of the old plumbing...
More detailed blogs to follow of all the above soon.
And yes, we are all well and safe.
Adrian
