We set out from Braemar with a cold nip in the air and the wind against us. Even so, we managed to make good progress as the road was somewhat sheltered. We cruised alongside the River Dee past Balmoral Castle. Our progress was soon to be slowed as we encountered the first long climb. The…

We set off from our very nice, spacious and comfortable chic apartment in Perth. It had been forecast for heavy rain today and we were incredibly fortunate that the weather turned out to be sunny and dry instead. It was very cold though with a wintery feel to the air. We were wrapped up warm…

Today started off overcast with rain threatening. We were able to ride out of Edinburgh assisted by an excellent network of cycle paths, although we did manage to get hooted at by a tram! Making good progress, we rounded a corner and there in the distance was the Forth Bridge! We learnt that the Forth…

Today was to be a shorter ride as we had covered a longer distance the previous day to reach our accommodation. As we had more time, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at St Ronan’s Hotel. At breakfast we chatted with two gents in their mid-70’s who were walking from the West to the East Coast.…

Setting off from Clitheroe it was again a chilly start to the day. Crossing the RIver Ribble, heading towards Waddington marking the gateway to the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Spectacular scenery dominates the stage as we left behind the mill towns and villages for open landscape. The riding today included…

We left our accommodation in Culcheth with a chill in the air. It was a little tricky navigating back onto our route for the day as we had been in a residential area with a lot of paths and trails around. We passed the a lot of school children One asked if he could join…

The day started with a beautiful sunrise at our accommodation at the Stables. We set off on our route and as usually seems to be the case, the first section after breakfast or lunch seems to be a climb. It was a clear sunny day and pleasing to note that the elevation was described as…
