LEFROG Day 10 – Entraygues-sur-Truyere to Mende

We set out early from our lovely rest day accommodation and rolled down the hill to join our route continuing along the banks of the Lot river.

We came to some traffic lights and were instructed to ride on the wrong side of the road. We were dismayed when suddenly traffic began approaching us on the same side! The two guys with walkie talkies controlling the traffic at each end obviously weren’t communicating very well!

I had put on a freshly waxed chain and was concerned that it was making a rubbing noise. I investigated when we stopped for a snack and realised that I had wrongly routed the chain.

We had a long climb of about 5.5km which was hard work!

I had to ride on a further 30km to our first break with the vehicle and managed to fix it!

Our lunch stop was near Chirac. We had a picnic in the grounds of a local football club. It was a very welcome break.

We then continued and were faced with a very steep climb up to Col de Goudard. There was a route barre sign and we thought that might provide an excuse to not do the climb, but a motorist assured us we could go ahead!

It was a long hard climb and I had to walk a fair way but eventually made it to the top!

We were rewarded by a spectactular view!

With such a long ride and with the elevation, my legs were toast by the end, and so limped back to our accommodation in a low gear!
