My Cancer Journey 15 – Another Zap!

Since having the 2nd lump removed, I continued to have US scans and TG blood tests.

The TG levels should ideally be undetectable, but mine have been creeping up. An US scan also showed some slight regrowth in the area of the thyroid bed. The Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) met to discuss the situation and have recommended another round of Radioiodine Treatment.

The first two rounds were at a low dose and were administered as a day patient. this time I am to receive a medium dose as an inpatient and so will spend two days in isolation in Brighton Hospital.

After that I will follow a similar semi-isolation protocol at home.

I am due to be heading off to ride across France from St Malo to Nice for the first 3 weeks of September. I’m pleased that I am still able to go and will receive the treatment after I get back in early October.

I wasn’t necessarily going to be sponsored, but as I will be receiving more treatment, I thought it would be an opportunity to highlight two brilliant charities: Cancer United and Sussex Cancer Fund.

I haven’t got long to get organised, but I will be setting up a giving page and in the same way as for the LeJog ride in September 2024, I plan to take the GoPro and keep a blog each day.
